Commonwealth Cyber Fusion 2019 winners announced

Cyber Fusion 2019

Virginia Military Institute hosted Commonwealth Cyber Fusion 2019 in Lexington, Virginia on February 22-23. Cyber Fusion is an invitation-only event for Virginia community colleges and universities that are National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Security. Seventeen schools participated in the 2-day event.

Students participate in cyber challenges, learn from industry professionals, network, and attend a cyber job fair. Administrators from these programs mentor their students, network with industry, and attend faculty round table sessions. The goal is to foster the next generation of cybersecurity professionals in Virginia. This event is co-hosted by Senator Mark R. Warner.

The Virginia Cyber Range developed and hosted the Virginia Cyber Cup Capture the Flag Competition. In the Capture the Flag event, competing teams tackle problems in scenarios designed to model real-world computer security challenges across a range of categories that includes cryptography, network traffic analysis, reverse engineering, steganography, and more. With challenges ranging from introductory to advanced, this competition is designed to both test skills and teach concepts.

Congratulations to this year's winners!
